                                                 centre (medical facility where a patient receives a transplant from
                                                 an unrelated donor). A medical assessment of the donor follows to
                                                 ensure that there are no risks to the donor or to the patient. If there
                                                 are no risks then the donor is cleared and if he/she still wishes to
                                                 proceed, the patient shall be prepared to receive the potentially life-
                                                 saving stem cells. In order to ensure that the donor is able to donate
                                                 enough blood-forming cells for the transplant, he/she will receive
                                                 daily G-CSF injections (naturally occurring growth factor) for five
                                                 consecutive days before the donation. The procedure is as under :
